Over 30 years ago a group of South Grove homeowners met to find a way to stop the burglaries, break-ins and car thefts that plagued their otherwise picture-perfect neighborhood. The result of that meeting led to the formation of the UTOPIA HOMEOWNERS SECURITY ASSOCIATION on June 15, 1992.
Their plan was for the neighbors to share the cost of paying for the City of Miami’s Police Dept.’s Program of Extra Duty patrol by armed police in official Miami PD vehicles. Today, because of their efforts and the current expanded deterrent program, we are not only nearly crime free but members also enjoy home watch, escort service, movies in the park, social events and a much greater sense of community.
