Bike Thefts Reported

Neighbors on Nextdoor.com have reported several incidents of bike theft in the Indiana Grove neighborhood. The perpetrators are reportedly returning to homes where barking dogs alerted owners and interrupted a theft. One neighbor reports having her bike stolen from behind a locked gate implying there were two perpetrators required to hand the bike over the gate.
Our patrol officers are a deterrent to crimes like this but we do not have 7×24 coverage. Please be diligent and keep high theft items locked up and out of sight.

UPDATE: Recent Shooting at CocoWalk
This update was provided by Commander Mike Gonzalez on Nextdoor.com
I know many of you have questions such as this regarding the senseless violence that occurred last week at Coco Walk. Our Investigations Division has been working long hours and very diligently to solve this case and make an arrest. There are details that I cannot disclose yet due to the ongoing nature of the investigation but I am able say the following:
A group of young males visited some Coco Walk restaurants and bars. Shortly after 9PM they went downstairs near the Starbucks when they became involved in some type of confrontation with another group of males who were at Coco Walk. This confrontation quickly escalated into a fistfight. During the brawl, one of the men produced a handgun and began shooting at the others. One person not involved in the fight was shot in the leg. At this point we do not believe that any of the parties involved reside in Coconut Grove.
The investigation is ongoing and I will update you as soon as I am able to provide more details.
Coconut Grove Traffic Enforcement
I am forwarding this as a courtesy to our members. The City of Miami has stepped up its traffic enforcement in the Grove due to many complaints by residents. Traffic enforcement is not performed by our security patrols and is unrelated to the Utopia Homeowners Security Association. Our patrols are dedicated to surveillance and crime prevention. Any questions related to the traffic enforcement should be directed to Commander Gonzalez and the MPD.
Please drive safely.
Coconut Grove Commander Mike Gonzalez from Miami Police Department · 5h ago
Good Afternoon Coconut Grove. After attending many community meetings where traffic is brought up as a major concern, we launched our regular traffic enforcement initiative yesterday. We began in the south Grove where many residents had long complained of traffic cutting through their neighborhood streets, disregarding signage prohibiting turns, and speeding on narrow Coconut Grove roadways. Our enforcement began at 7AM and concluded at 8PM, with our rush-hour focus concentrated in the south Grove area. Our Traffic Enforcement Unit (Motorcycle Officers) worked hard and did an outstanding job! They issued the majority of 193 traffic tickets and 2 arrests and were supported by some of our Coconut Grove officers throughout the operation. Our team is aware that traffic is one of the primary concerns for our residents and we intend to regularly conduct these enforcement initiatives. We will be rotating them strategically throughout the Grove to help address traffic and promote safe driving practices.
Please remember to drive safely and slow down on our smaller neighborhood streets.
